The impeached Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko, will have to spend another cold night in police cell. The fallen hero today denied twelve charges flattened against him. Sonko was on Tuesday, Feb 2, 2021 arrested and charged with assault and robbery with violence among 10 other charges, is reported to have claimed he is innocent and falsely being accused. Sonko was accused of exposing Mr Musyoki, Mr. Alex Kioko, and John Mungai Wanjiru significant bodily harm in a series of acts considered assaults by Stella Ataambo, the senior principal magistrate at Kiambu Law Court where Sonko appeared on the morning of Feb. 2.
The prosecution is seeking to have Sonko detained as investigations continue. The former governor, who presented himself at the DCI headquarters on Feb 1, 2021 for questioning, may be transferred to a Mombasa court which had earlier issued a warrant of arrest against him. According to trustable sources, the prosecution requested the Court to ensure Sonko is closely monitored to prevent him from intimidating witnesses. In a recent public speech, Sonko claimed that he, alongside some key government officials were involved in planning hooliganism during the 2017 election. Sonko’s case at the Kiambu Law Court are ongoing. Sonko has been making very controversial statement that could have contributed to his ultimate arrest. Watch.
